Bueno, primero de todo quisiera felicitaros el Año Nuevo, ya que para las fiestas es tarde :) . Quisiera mostraros unos vídeos muy interesantes, reencontrados por segunda vez mientras estaba navegando en YouTube. Y si la primera vez me parecieron interesantes por su corto y ameno contenido, esta vez no iba a dejar pasar la oportunidad de compartirlos. Uno son los vídeos de Urban Gardener y el otro es Off Beat Spacesy ambos se encuentran en el canal de Youtube SpaceTV (He enlazado las dos listas, ya que no se encuentran diferenciadas dentro del canal). Aquí se puede ver que con imaginación, tiempo, paciencia y muchas ganas podemos hacer nuestro día a día más agradable y respetable con el medio ambiente. First of all, I want to wish you all a Happy New Year, as Christmas has already gone :) . I wanted to show you some very interesting videos, that I found again while I was bumping into some links on YouTube. At first sight they looked so engaging due to their short and amusing subjects. The first one is Urban Gardener and the other one is Off Beat Spaces, both are belonging to YouTube's channel SpaceTV (I've linked separate searches for both lists, because they aren't differed in the channel). It is shown here that with imagination, time, patience and willingness we can turn our diary lifes into more kind and eco friendly ones. A lot of awesome design ideas here, enjoy the contents!
¿Has pensado alguna vez que necesitas más de lo que tienes? Debemos aprender y empezar a apreciar lo que tenemos. Ser humildes y sinceros con nosotros mismos. No es solo ser más conscientes, sino también más humanos. Mirad a este chico: sólo piensa en compartir su conocimiento con su familia y conocidos para sacar adelante a su comunidad. No es egoísta, antepone la gente a sí mismo. Definitivamente, tenemos que empezar a aprender. Being humble and honest with ourselves. It's not only about being more concious, it's also being more human. Look at this kid: he only thinks about sharing his knowledge and discoverings with his people and colleagues to go his community on (apart of the fact that he's such a genius). En estos tiempos de fuegos artificiales en la arquitectura, redescubrir dibujos como los de Paul Rudolph es una necesidad. Mientras la mayoría del trabajo de los arquitectos de hoy en día se centra en increíbles, y casi irreales, renders para impresionar al gran público, estos dibujos hablan de algo más que de espacio y virguerías estructurales. Es más acerca de la materialidad, las texturas, la expresión; aparte de ser unos proyectos brillantes y arriesgados. Actualmente hemos perdido esa mágica sensación que proporciona el dibujar a mano: el control de la escala, el gramaje de los diferentes papeles, ... todas esas cosas que las herramientas virtuales no te dejan apreciar. Así pues es importante retomar la costumbre de dibujar a mano, como una herramienta, porque humaniza y nos da un conocimiento real de lo que se proyecta. Disfrutad de estos increíbles dibujos!
In these times of architectural fireworks, rediscovering drawings as Paul Rudolph's are such a need. Meanwhile most of architects' work nowadays is basically focused on amazing, and nearly impossible, visualizations to amaze the audience, these drawings claim more than space and fancy structural challenges. It's more about materiality, textures, expression, apart of being a brilliant works of architecture. Currently we have lost that magic sensation that you feel when you're hand drawing: the control of the scale, the weight of different kind of papers, ... all those things that CAD tools dont' let you feel. So it's important to come back to hand drafting, as a tool too, because is becoming more human and provides us real knowledge about what we're designing. And now enjoy these marvelous drawings!
Aquí va una breve entrada, sobre un vídeo muy divertido que hemos encontrado. Un buen diseño no está reñido con la simplicidad y es un gran arma para combatir la rutina. Hablar de diseño no es hablar sobre minimalismo, u objetos caros y elististas: el diseño es algo que hace la vida más fácil. Y si es reutilizado o reciclado, mucho mejor! El autor es el diseñador Pierre Lota. Espero que lo disfrutéis tanto como nosotros.
Here it's a short updating about one video that we found, which is particularly funny. A really well though design is a great weapon against routine and it's not complicated at all. Design is not talking about minimalism, exclusive or expensive stuff: design is something that makes our daily life easier. And if it's reused or recycled even better! En esta nueva entrada, quería comentaros brevemente el trabajo de la asociación Maya Pedalen Guatemala. Se trata de un colectivo que, a través del reciclaje de bicicletas viejas, crea nuevas herramientas y aparatos necesarios y de uso cotidiano como, por ejemplo, lavadoras, batidoras o un molino de trigo. Es una iniciativa que parte 100% desde una visión ecológica y de economía mínima. Podéis encontrar vídeos, planos y tutoriales en su propia web, donde explican todo el proceso de montaje y funcionamiento. Sin duda, muy interesante!
In this new entry, I want to talk about Maya Pedal Association from Guatemala. It's about a collective of people which, through recycling old useless bikes, in order to create daily use, needed, new tools and machines as washing machines, whiskes or mills. This initiative has started from a 100% ecological and minimal economy. They shared all their video tutorials and plans (even Sketch Up models) in their website, where it's explained how-to process and the working of all these machines. Very interesting, indeed yes!
Volvemos con otra actualización! Esta vez la comparación no es tan inmediata, en lo referido a la forma, pero si conceptualmente, tanto por el uso de los patios como por el tratamiento de la privacidad del usuario y su relación con el exterior. De nuevo, como el proceso de ida y vuelta de la arquitectura da resultados parecidos, pero a la vez, diferentes. Por cierto, a partir de ahora, intentaré aportar la versión inglesa, que no está de más internacionalizarse un poco. We're back with a new update! This time the comparaison below is not such immediat as the last one, but they are in its concept, as much as courtyards and privacity of user as well its relation with outer surrounding. The architectural feedback process again gives really similar results, but at the same time, differents. And breaking news, next updates will be available in English too, it's not out of line being a little bit more international.
