Comparisons are NOT hateful v.03

Tras mucho tiempo ausente, retomamos del baúl unas cuantas comparaciones que estaban a la espera del momento idóneo para ser publicadas. En este caso traemos unas obras más próximas en el tiempo y, de las que no estoy seguro que hubiese habido una retroalimentación. En el proyecto de Kahn hay una voluntad estructural en planta, de concatenar volúmenes puros, un orden muy basado en su función y para nada en su significado. Esta distribución está basada, más bien, en la investigación y línea arquitectónica de su autor, muy influenciada por la monumentalidad de las ruinas europeas.

Mientras que Bofill, por su parte, partiendo de una planta, que podríamos decir, bastante moderna, también basada en figuras geométricas básicas, crea una fantasía de castillo árabe, de clara influencia mediterránea. Basado en las kasbah -un tipo de medina de las ciudades árabes e islámicas, con ejemplos a lo largo de toda la costa africana-, no oculta su influencia, e incluso la potencia con un cierto toque que recuerda a Venturi.

La fuerte reseña de verticalidad que respiran ambos proyectos es del todo consciente, con ese carácter de fortaleza. La fortaleza del conocimiento -el castillo del científico- y la fortaleza árabe, más literal e inmediata, de uso residencial.

Esta vez, y bajo mi punto de vista, un feedback accidental que parte de conceptos y corrientes distintas, pero cuyos resultados, sobre todo volumétricos, tienen mucho que ver.

After a long time off, we will restart with some comparaisons that were keept into a trunk, waiting for the right moment to be released.  In this case, we are bringing to life architecture works relatives in time, not as far each other as the previous ones and, which both I'm not completely sure, that existed a real feedback. At Kahn's work there is a clear  structural will in plant, linking together pure volumes, a very based order in its purpose and not at all in its figurative meaning. This layouot is based, rather at his own personal research and the line of architecture of his author which is very influenced by  monumental character of the classical European ruins. 

Meanwhile, Bofill, at his work, coming as of, we could say, a quite contemporary arrangement, also based on simple geometric shapes, he created a fancy islamic castle, with a very marked Mediterranean influence. It's based on Kasbah -a type of  medina or Arabic city, which may be found all along the North Afrincan coast-, it is not hidden its influence, and even push this idea further with a slightly Venturi work's taste. Both projects have a very powerful vertical direction, which is completely concious, remaining that fortress' character. The knowledge fortress -researcher's castle- and the Arabic fortress, strictly talking, as a residential complex.

Over this occasion, and always in my viewpoint, this is an unplanned feedback which came from such some different concepts and streams, that finally came out, mostly volumetric, unlike results.
